Digitally supported Teaching
eLearning Competence Center (eLCC) in Cooperation with WiSo-IT
The eLearning Competence Center of the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences pools the expertise and support for all e-learning activities. It provides support to ensure the quality of teaching when using new media and helps teachers and students to implement innovative, electronically supported teaching and learning methods.
It is in close contact with the other Faculties and the Institute of Music and complements the services offered by the university-wide eLearning Competence Center.
Nobody can take learning away from students, but the conditions under which learning takes place can be improved through the use of various media. eLearning offers a number of possibilities for shaping students' learning experiences.
We at the eLearning Competence Center (eLCC) offer lecturers support in the implementation of innovative ideas and provide advice on the use of various media.
ILIAS
The university's learning management system offers a wide range of possible uses for electronic aids and media.
Video conferencing
The Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences has various systems available for holding video conferences, whether for communicating with international research partners in our video studio or for holding a consultation session during lectures from your own computer at home.
Lecture recordings
Whether entire lectures or short excerpts with complex topics - both the technology and the experience with video recordings are available for you.
Audience response
Direct feedback from the lecture theatre is a logical development of electronic exercises. They arise from the requirement that lecturers want to incorporate students' opinions during a course or obtain feedback on their understanding.
eAssessment
Electronic test procedures are no longer based exclusively on multiple-choice tests. When used in advance, short quizzes can help to activate prior knowledge or help students to better assess their own learning progress following learning sequences. They also contribute to active and in-depth engagement with the learning material.
Further information on the various technologies and media can be obtained either from the contact person at the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences or from our pages in the ILIAS information centre.
Online course ‘The best of two worlds’
There is an online course ‘The best of both worlds’ (German) on the new ILIAS learning platform. Building on the results scpecific to the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences, this course addresses topics such as "Teaching and learning scenarios at the Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences", "Providing content", "Supporting learners' self-direction", "Strengthening communication and interaction” and “Virtualising and flexibilising examinations”.
We offer our students technical support on a wide range of topics relating to online-based learning and working methods.
Online surveys
Empirical studies are often set up in research projects or larger theses for which surveys have to be carried out. We provide the LimeSurvey tool for this purpose, with which internet-based surveys can be created and analysed quickly and easily. Please also refer to the information in the service portal.
Methods Counselling
WiSo-IT's methods counselling service supports students, lecturers and all staff with methodological issues. We primarily advise on questions relating to IT tools and quantitative methods.
We offer individual counselling, e.g. for problems and questions before or during the final thesis. We can also organise information events on specific topics as part of lectures. Please contact us.
Video conferences
The members of a study or working group often live in widely separated neighbourhoods or completely outside the city. To facilitate communication and avoid unnecessary travelling time, our students can use the web-based video conferencing system Zoom.
ILIAS
Our learning management systems offer a wide range of applications and technologies to support the learning process. We offer training courses on the various topics every semester and provide extensive help.
