FAQ FOR FRESHMEN
We have provided the answers to frequently asked questions for you here:
The placement tests in the languages are used to determine your previous knowledge and enable you to be assigned to the appropriate course level. Existing knowledge is taken into account in this way.
If necessary, oral interviews will be conducted to determine your grade.
The placement tests in accounting and mathematics allow first-year students with good knowledge in these areas to qualify directly for participation in the corresponding courses, which are planned from the 1st or 2nd semester in the business administration degree programs.
You will not receive a grade for the placement tests in accounting and mathematics. Passing the test is sufficient proof of your knowledge and enables you to take part in the subsequent courses.
Registration takes place via online forms and is not possible by e-mail. You can find the registration form under the following link:
Please note the registration deadlines.
You can only register for one compact course at a time, as the times of some of the compact courses overlap. In addition, you may not have time to prepare for more than one compact course on a regular basis.
Decide which compact course is most important to you. In the other subjects, you can then either take the placement test without a compact course (if you have previous knowledge) or attend a preparatory course during the semester.
Yes, select the compact course that corresponds to your first priority in the registration form. The courses are indicated on the form with the corresponding lecturers. The second priority is then automatically the other course in the same subject.
After the end of the registration period, we will evaluate the registrations and try to meet your wishes with regard to course selection. However, if there are any discrepancies in the course allocation, we reserve the right to allocate you to the other course in the same subject. You will be informed of this by e-mail. If there are more registrations than places available, places will be allocated according to the number of students in the semester. In this case, first semester students will always be allocated a place.
Yes, you will receive confirmation by e-mail immediately after your registration that your data has been transferred in full. Please check this carefully for accuracy and completeness.
A confirmation e-mail for the compact course registration is not a confirmation of participation. After evaluation of the registrations and a selection process, students will receive an acceptance or rejection for the desired compact course.
Please check in the following order:
1. please check your junk mail folder
2. please register again and make sure that the e-mail address you enter in the form is spelled correctly. The registration confirmation will also be sent to this e-mail address. It may not be possible to register again, in which case point 3 applies.
3. contact einstufungstest-wiso@hs-osnabrueck.de by e-mail.
Languages: There is no failing grade for these tests, as only your prior knowledge is recorded and you are assigned to a level in the respective language. Your result indicates the course level at which you start your studies.
Note for International Management/International Business Administration and Management: Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the chosen second foreign language are part of the compulsory course. If one or more levels have already been proven by the result of the placement test, the grade for the respective level will be determined by a supplementary interview or similar with the subject lecturer. If you have any questions, please contact einstufungstest-wiso@hs-osnabrueck.de
Accounting/Mathematics: If you fail a test, register for the preparatory course during the semester. In theory, you can repeat the test as often as you like until you pass it. This means that failing the test has no further consequences for you. Each time you retake the test, you will need to register again.
The placement tests as well as the compact and preparatory courses are free of charge.
Yes, this can be applied for after enrollment and receipt of intranet access. Further information can be found on our website (only available in German).
