Kurzbeschreibung

The module "Practical Application of Methods" enlarges student's skills with regard to the application of empirical methods of the social sciences, especially the quantitative, statistical methods. The core of the module is to formulate a scientific question and then to design, conduct, and report the whole empirical project. Hence the module also serves as a training for the later bachelor thesis. Students perform their research project in small groups and will be coached during all phases of their work. They should formulate the concrete, empirical research question according to their own interests and then develop the appropriate methodological approach, collect all the neccessary data, analyze them statistically, and finally, report them in written form.

Lehrinhalte
  • Introduction to self-assured application of methodological knowledge and skills, especially the quantitative-statistical methods (with consultation and support by the lecturer)
  • Endorsement of teamwork within a research project
  • Development and obeying of project plans (milestones, timelines).
