Project Committee
The team of the Asian-German experts, which is coordinating and supervising the overall progress of the project considers the following aspects as crucial factors for the success of the entire project:
Dr. Romyen Kosaikanont is currently the Centre Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED) and previously served as a former Vice President for International Affairs of Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand. She has long been actively engaging in higher education harmonisation and internationalisation processes in Thailand and the region. She is one of the pioneers in establishing the intra-regional mobility the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme. On the regional level, she has served as a regional expert in projects such as the DAAD International Dean Course, the Japan ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) for the Capacity Building Project for the Greater Mekong Subregion, and CIDA Sustainable Environmental Management Project. The project committee and the participating universities in the Horizon "Southeast Asia" project benefit from all of this.
Professor Dieter Trautz is a scientist at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in the field of agroecology and environmentally friendly land management. He brings his experience in sustainable development and his international research activities in this field to the project committee. In addition to his appointment as a professor, Dieter Trautz has been training young scientists for years and can use this experience to benefit the project.
Dr. Limantara is Rector at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya, Indonesia. She obtained Master and Ph.D degrees in Chemistry (1998) from Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan and conducted her postdoctoral fellowship at Ludwig Maximillian Universit?t München, Germany in 2001 and 2004 under DAAD fellowship and Georg Foster Fellowship of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. She was Humboldt Ambassador Scientist of AvH for Indonesia from 2011-2017. Dr. Limantara has received prestigious awards, including Humboldt Alumni Award (2018), Toray Science & Technology Award (2005) from the Indonesia Toray Foundation, and 2nd National best lecturer from Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (2004). Now, she is the Regional Expert and trainer of DAAD DIES ProGRANT (2014-now), Deputy Chair of the Tridarma Division of the Association of Private Higher Education of Indonesia (APTISI) Region IV-B Banten Province (2017-2022) and Deputy Chair for Internationalization, Association of Indonesian Lecturer, Banten Province (2019-2024).
Peter Mayer is Professor of Economics at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. As an expert in international higher education development, he is involved in a wide range of projects worldwide. For Project Horizon Southeast Asia he is the project leader from the German side. As a member of the project committee, he ensures that the goals and outcomes of the project are met and supports the university leaders and researchers in the project. His extensive experience helps the universities to establish sustainable, cross-border and interdisciplinary networks.
Duu Sheng obtained his PhD in Electronics Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK and his MPhil and BSc(Hons) in Physics from University of Malaya, Malaysia. Dr.Ong joined Multimedia University in 1999 and obtained his Professorship at the Faculty of Engineering in 2009. He was the Programme Coordinator of MEng in Microelectronics (2001-2006), Director of Research Management Centre (2008), Dean of Institute for Postgraduate Studies (2009-2010) and Vice President of Academics (2011-2014). Currently, he is a member of MMU Senate. Prof. Ong is a Humboldt Research Fellow, Germany since 2006 and he was awarded the Royal Society UK Study Visit to Sheffield in 2003. For the Horion Southeast Asia project, Prof Duu Sheng, in addition to serving on the project committee, is an advisor to university leaders on the preparation of university development plans.
